Jas 4:1-10. Tony van Drimmelen. James issues a strong warning against worldliness in the church. He quickly gets to our hearts when he identifies worldly thinking and activities as belonging to adulterous people, enemies of God. The Old Testament prophets often used the marriage metaphor to speak of the relationship God has with His people. More than any other, this metaphor brings out a level of intimacy and personal oneness we can have with our Lord. And He gives more grace to make it happen. From God’s side, it is what He is jealous for. Our quiet times afford us the opportunity to, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” (Jam 4:8) Do you have the courage to come near?
